From my previous blog I now knew that I was going to heaven and the Bible was a book I wanted to explore.
What I didn’t know then was what had really happened to me in becoming a Christian and starting out on a new journey as a boy not yet in his teens. Looking back now I can see that I was about to embark on a roller coaster of a ride.
When Paul wrote his letter to the believers in the church in Ephesus he gives a brilliant description of what a Christian is.
Now I can explain what had happened to me all those years ago.
Read Ephesians 1:3-14
Blessed
Redeemed
Chosen
GRACE
Predestined
According to His will
Adopted
Loved
Just pause a moment on each of these words and see how much you mean to God.
To me, these verses are like climbing a mountain on a clear day. The higher I climb, the view gets better and when I reach the top and take a good look round, I have got the ‘wow factor’!
I am what I am today because of God’s amazing grace. All the blessings I have come from Him – ‘ the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.’
God the Father is involved.
God the Son is involved.
God the Holy Spirit is involved.
Can it get any better than that?
And, what’s more, nothing can take any of that away from me. As Paul says in his letter to the church in Rome – ‘there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and …… nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’
I will come back to the Bible and Me journey next time but, for now, just enjoy being one of God’s children.
